The Junction in York has a long standing tradition of hosting live music and notable DJ events. We have a capacity of 250, sufficiently large for some touring artists but equally comfortable for shows by emerging local talent. There are two bars, please note that there is no access to the public to the venue until doors open on the day of an event. You are however welcome to use the front bar up until that time.

The venue has a large purpose built stage, backstage area and a level load in from the adjacent ample car park. There is also a fully installed PA and lighting rig for which we have in-house engineers.

Whether you are a music lover seeing what events we have that may interest you, or are a band, agent or promoter seeking a show please look around this site and find out more about what we have on offer.

We reply to all enquiries and listen to all demos submitted for consideration.

Tickets for most shows are available from the venue or online from www.ticketweb.co.uk
MAY PREVIEWS
may4s.gif picture by corruption_york One of Britain's most influential and original rock bands who have inspired the likes of Metallica and Megadeth. They continue to produce new material, as well as re-inventing much of their back catalogue when performing live. This will ROCK !

may7s.gif picture by corruption_york Dead pig heads. Phil Jupitus. 300 gigs a year. Kicking pigeons. Beer. Welcome to the life of the UK?s hardest working band, [spunge], Tewkesbury ska-punk terrorists. Leading the pack of the UK?s burgeoning ska-punk scene, [spunge] are set to break the mould of a genre dominated by US acts such as Less Than Jake, Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Reel Big Fish. The band hit upon the sound by accident, having amalgamated their collective influences of Sublime, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash and The Wildhearts. Undergoing a grassroots level of promotion by playing tour after tour after tour, [spunge] are living proof that bands can by-pass the media manipulation machine and still play sold-out shows across the country.

In the wake of The White Stripes, stripped-down rock'n'roll duos can seem a tired idea, but Tennessee's Black Diamond Heavies are a towering example of a real two-man soul and blues freakshow. This is for fans of the Black Keys, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Immortal Lee County Killers, Muddy Waters.

may4s.gif picture by corruption_york This four piece from Leeds kicked up a storm with their self produced 3 track demo recorded in late 2006. On Radio 1 Zane Lowe gave plays and props, Steve Lamacq crowned them 'Unsigned Band Of The Week' and Huw Stephens not only invited them in to record a Maida Vale session but also declared them his 'hottest tip for 2007'. The band have also been nominated for 'unsigned act of the year' on Channel Four's Freshly Squeezed.

"Middleman make bouncy, vibrant, ridiculously catchy tunes that stand out a mile from everything else around at the moment."
- Huw Stephens Radio 1

may18s.gif picture by corruption_york  U.K. SUBS, the punk legend on a hundred thousand leather jackets, continue their constant touring regime, playing to new generations of nations' disaffected punk youth and inspired by the Damned and Sex Pistols.. Surprising everyone, they then became one of the most consistently and visibly successful punk bands, with seven consecutive UK Top 30 hits between 1979-81, establishing themselves throughout the world with a heavy touring schedule that still continues today. I?m sure you know the all the hits. Early ticket purchase recommended

may4s.gif picture by corruption_york   may4s.gif picture by corruption_york Live Tom Mansi and the Icebreakers sound like they spent their childhoods playing 7 nights a week in the house bands of the rowdiest, smokiest booze pits in the country. These songs are the everyday stories of a talented musician making his way through a landscape of dark rock and roll and blue country music.
Doors 8pm. £5 advance

may4s.gif picture by corruption_york Euphoric and atmospheric rock from indie-types Sky Larkin. Having toured with The Gossip, Broken Social Scene and iForward Russia!, this Leeds based trio are most certainly ones to watch. '...a glorious mixture of stupendous pop melodies, pleasing-to-the-eye personnel and a host of quirks to boot.' - Drowned In Sound

COMING SOON
may4s.gif picture by corruption_york Napoleon IIIrd is a highly original musician from Leeds. He makes a unique kind of leftfield pop from piles of antique organs and car-boot keyboards, gentle strummed chords and driving glitched beats. His live show also features a reel-to-reel tape player, sometimes through surround-sound speakers, and a strobing acoustic guitar. Doors 8pm. £5 advance

Blood or Whiskey formed in 1994 and are widely regarded as the first post- Pogues band to mix Traditional Irish music with Punk Rock, predating the current worldwide trend of plastic paddy Irish infused Punk Rock. You may have caught these guys blowing the crowd away on the Goldblade double headline show here in December.
Doors 8pm. £6 advance

may4s.gif picture by corruption_york Apparently - the first name on people's lips if you ask about current Liverpool talent. (The Times), whether they follow the likes of The Coral, The Zutons and even Oasis, who they've also been compared to, into garnering commercial as well as critical acclaim remains to be seen. That might why they've ended their name with a question mark. Truly, it's a case of definitely maybe.

The Talks formed in June 2006 after Jody and Lint spent six months recording together in Lint's sweaty smelly bedroom. They have now taen their own special brand of punk/ska/reggae/seventies inspired indie 'to the people!', enlisting the services of Ian and Titch on bass and drums.
Doors 8pm. £5 advance

may4s.gif picture by corruption_york A foot stompin', viola playing force of nature... Anni Rossi is a startlingly fresh musician from Illinois who has been leaving audiences agog with her unique blend of classical virtuosity, ramshackle percussion and vocal acrobatics. Her songs are alive with possibility and she has that Greenwich Village class via East European barn dance mixed with unkempt singer/songwriter allure all in bundles. You may caught her on tour with The Ting Tings recently.

Doors 7:45pm. £5 otd

An acoustic singer/songwriter playing heartbreaking tales of love, family and vulnerability. Counting Bright Eyes, The Spinto Band and Ed Harcourt amongst his influences, young Sam has self-released two mini albums, received glowing reviews and national radio play on Radio 1, 2 and XFM.
Doors 8pm. £5 advance

may4s.gif picture by corruption_york Sex Pistols Experience are by far the finest tribute to the punk legends. A definite must see for all punk fans. Never mind the b*llocks - here's the Experience. The Johnny Rotten of the band and girlfriend Nancy Pungent (AKA Sophie) have been cast to star in Alan Parker's big buget 'Who Killed Nancy' film with Jude Law. Special mention to Ed Tudor Pole, who once briefly joined the Sex Pistols during 'Johnny (Rotten) Lydon' departure, and if you don't recognise Ed for his fantastic music you may well recognise him from his various tv and film roles in the past. A MUST SEE GIG FOR ALL PUNK FANS

Make Model are such hot property right now, watch you don't burn your fingers on your computer as you read this. They're being described as "a bunch of genius folk bastards", but don't expect any tankards of real ale or Arran sweaters from these six Glaswegians. This isn't beardy folk as your creepy old neighbours with the musty, worn Steeleye Span albums might understand it. And they're not exactly typical of their area; in fact, the group who include former members of Carson, Dance Lazarus Dance and Fickle Public sound more like one of the new wave of scarily exuberant happy-clappy bands-as-communes from Canada, making them Scotland's answer to the male-female chaos-pop of Broken Social Scene et al.
Doors 8pm. £5 advance

may4s.gif picture by corruption_york SB6 are a group in the tradition of UK punk bands such as The Specials, The Clash and King Prawn that push the musical envelope by mixing contemporary underground sounds of the UK with a rocking live show and educational lyrics. Although there really is no-one else quite like these energetic ragga muffins. Expect a variety, from hiphop beats to summer vibes and skacore riffs, this band have it all. 'Miss Dynamite fronting CapDown'.
Doors 8pm. £7 advance
